Lake Oswego UMC is in a covenant relationship with Gordon and Teca Greathouse, commissioned missionaries of the United Methodist Church. As part of this partnership we provide financial support and keep them in our prayers. They in turn keep us informed about their work and we are given an understanding of the people, culture, traditions and religious life that forms the context in which they do their work.

Gordon and Teca are serving in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. They have developed a community center in which people from slum areas gain skills to become economically independent. Gordon, as President of the Methodist Foundation, is promoting alternative after-school programs that provide children with an alternative to the streets. Teca is the Brazilian National Coordinator for Volunteers in Mission. She is the National Coordinator for the Shade & Fresh Water Project that promotes programs for children at risk throughout Brazil.
